Don Casada is Consulting Engineer with Diagnostic Solutions, LLC in Knoxville, Tennessee. He specializes in measurement and evaluation of pumping systems for energy, productivity, and reliability improvements, and has led pumping system assessments at more than 90 industrial facilities, including work at aluminum, chemical, defense, electric power (fossil and nuclear), food, glass, paper, petroleum, steel, and municipal water plants as well as aggregate, copper, gold, magnesium and silver mines.
He is the author and programmer of the U.S. Department of Energy's Pumping System Assessment Tool (PSAT). Don is also the developer of the associated PSAT end-user and PSAT specialist training curricula. He serves as the lead specialist instructor for the DOE, and is a DOE Energy Expert.
Don is a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering and Master of Mechanical Engineering degrees at North Carolina State University. He holds six patents involving valves and rotating machinery.
Don previously worked for Carolina Power and Light Company (now Progress Energy) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
