Hide biography

Donovan Martin received his undergraduate degree from the Honors Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, in June 2007 (graduated with distinctions). This included a specialization in fluids-thermal engineering. He has formally applied to the Professional Engineers of Ontario for registration in the Engineering Intern Training (EIT) program.

Donovan’s work experience has been mostly with fan systems. He is currently employed at FLOWCARE Engineering Inc., an engineering firm in Cambridge, Ontario that provides consulting services for fans, pumps, and blower systems. FLOWCARE has extensive experience with design, on-site testing, energy studies for performance optimization, vibration and sound analysis, and custom engineering solutions for virtually every type of industrial application. At present, Donovan’s area of focus is to conduct feasibility studies for evaluating energy savings opportunities of large industrial fans. The different phases of the feasibility study include on-site performance testing, detailed fan performance calculations, the evaluation of energy reduction options, and the writing of energy study reports. Donovan has been involved with feasibility studies for applications such as coal mines, steel plants, cement plants, nickel smelters, and fossil-fueled power generation.

Donovan is a DOE Qualified Specialist with fan systems (FSAT) and is presently a conditionally qualified DOE Energy Expert.
