The Guiding Principles Checklist in ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager
Live Training
This webcast will teach Federal energy and sustainability professionals how to use the ENERGY STAR measurement and tracking tool, Portfolio Manager, to help ensure compliance with the Guiding Principles for High Performance Sustainable Buildings required by Executive Orders 13423 and 13514. The focus is on the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Existing Buildings.
The Federal Energy Management Program, the General Services Administration, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR program, partnered to incorporate the Guiding Principles Checklist with Portfolio Manager because Portfolio Manager can provide useful energy and water performance metrics for buildings across entire agency inventories. The Checklist can help Federal Buildings comply with Guiding Principles in the following ways:
- Conducting building assessments
- Tracking and viewing progress
- Storing compliance documents
- Creating a report showing compliance for entire building inventories
- Reviewing up-to-date energy and water metrics generated by Portfolio Manager
- Reporting compliance in the Federal Real Property Profile (FRPP).
The purpose, scope and benefits of Portfolio Manager and the Guiding Principles Checklist will be discussed and federal professionals will come away with an understanding of relevant policy background and how to establish, share, use, and report data for compliance. Students will receive a brief introduction to the Guiding Principles requirements and recommended evidence of compliance. The webcast will also provide information on using Portfolio Manager to meet energy benchmarking requirements required under 42 USC §8253(f).
