METRIX4
Tool for monitoring energy usage and verifying cost savings from energy conservation measures. Metrix4 establishes baseline and target usage patterns, which can be used totrack building performance. Metrix4 uses specific algorithms to test for correlation between energy usage and weather data or other variables that you can define (such as occupancy or production). Screen Shots
Keywords
monitoring and verification, utility bill analysis, utility accounting
Validation/Testing
N/A.
Expertise Required
Basic knowledge of Windows and data entry.Metrix4 training is available.
Users
Approximately 1000 users worldwide, mostly in the United States and Canada.
Audience
ESCOs, performance contractors, energy consultants, utilities and energy managers, governments, school districts.
Input
Users set up their project by entering Sites and Areas and Meters.Users import (or type in) bill data and weather data, and then correlate utility usage to weather (or other variables).
Output
Metrix4 includesmany standard reports formats as well as graphing capabilities. Users can also configure reports without having to buy another program to do so. The program also allows users to create, print and export lists of inputted data (such as information on all meters). Metrix4 enables users to communicate the results with an Excel-based report engine.
Computer Platform
PC platform, Windows (version 3.1 or later), 486 or higher.
Programming Language
Delphi (a derivative of PASCAL)
Strengths
Regression calculations are based upon ASHRAE's Monitoring and Verification Committee's reccomendations. The hands-on regression allows users to make the best correlation between usage and weather (or other input variables).Users can enter modifications to account for increases (or decreases in building usage) due to remodels or other events. Users can model most utility rates. There are no add on costs.
Weaknesses
The program becomes slow on larger projects (>200 meters). For this reason, it is recommended to split up large projects into 2 or 3 smaller ones.
