Comprehensive energy analysis program used to determine the compliance of a building to Canada's Model National Energy Code for Buildings (MNECB). EE4 CODE may also be used to perform non-compliance energy analyses and thus to predict the annual energy consumption of a building and to assess the impact of design changes. Basic information, location, envelope component areas and characteristics, characteristics of building's HVAC, lighting and service water heating systems.

Output

Energy consumption of design building and MNECB reference building. Summary and detailed compliance reports.

Computer Platform

PC-compatible, Windows NT or Windows 95/98/2000 operating system, IBM 486 or Pentium 75 with at least 16 MB RAM, 40 MB free disk space, SVGA monitor with minimum 800 x 600 resolution.

Strengths

EE4 CODE automatically generates a reference building to verify compliance to the MNECB using the performance path approach. EE4 CODE can also be used in non-compliance mode to predict a building's annual energy consumption and assess the impact of design changes. User-friendly interface and on-line help. Includes default libraries of common building plants, systems, construction assemblies and materials, lighting elements, fenestration and operating schedules. Available in English and French.

Weaknesses

Not all HVAC systems and plant configurations can be modeled directly with EE4 CODE and a detailed DOE-2 simulation is required.
