Advanced Energy Retrofit Guide (AERG) for Grocery Stores

This page provides information about the Advanced Energy Retrofit Guide (AERG) for Grocery Stores. Search all Commercial Buildings Resource Database.

The AERG for Grocery Stores is one of five retrofit guides commissioned by the U.S. Department of Energy. By presenting general project planning guidance as well as more detailed descriptions and financial payback metrics for the most important and relevant energy efficiency measures (EEMs), these guides provide a practical roadmap for effectively planning and implementing performance improvements in existing buildings.

Advanced Energy Retrofit Guide: Grocery Stores PDF
Information Type: Application Guides and How-To Handbooks; Design Guides
Date: June 2012

Goals

The AERGs are designed to address key segments of the U.S. commercial building stock: retail store, office buildings, K-12 schools, grocery stores, and healthcare facilities. The guides’ general project planning considerations are applicable nationwide; the energy and cost savings estimates for recommended EEMs were developed based on energy simulations and cost estimates tailored to five distinct climate zones. The results of these analyses are presented for individual measures, and for packages of recommended measures for three project types: existing building commissioning, whole-building retrofits, and staged retrofits.
